A rich lady came in to buy a pair of shoes. The rich lady bought the pair of shoes and gave him five silver coins. Then he had enough money to buy food and two pieces of leather to make two pairs of shoes. He laid out the leather and went to bed. The Elves came in and set to work. In the morning there were two pairs of lovely fine shoes. A rich man came in and bought the two pairs of lovely shoes. He had enough money to buy four pairs of shoes. He laid out the four pairs of leather and went to bed. That night the Elves came in and set to work. The next morning there were four pairs of lovely shoes. A rich man came in and bought the pairs of shoes. It happened over and over again. They wanted to find out who is making the shoes. They stayed up at night and watched who did it. It was some Elves making the shoes. So they decided to make some clothes for the Elves. They wrapped the presents and put them on the counter then the Elves came in and saw the presents and realized that they were for them. They all lived happy for ever.

The Elves and the Shoemaker - Jenna

Once upon a time there was a friendly shoemaker. He was very poor. His wife was starving. They lived in a small village. He looked around his workshop and found there was just enough leather to make one pair of shoes. He cut up the leather and went to bed. In the morning he found a fine pair of shoes. He was very surprised. He showed the shoes to his wife. She was extremely surprised. Later in the day a rich woman came in the shop. She put the shoes on. “They fit perfectly”, said the woman. “I will give you 4 pieces of silver for the shoes”. With 4 pieces of silver he could enough food for his wife and him and enough leather for 2 pairs of shoes. He cut out the leather and went to bed. In the morning he saw there were 2 pairs of fine shoes. A rich man came in the shop. He loved the shoes so much he bought both. So each day rich people came and bought the shoes. Soon the shoemaker and his wife were rich too. This kept on going until one night at dinner time the shoemaker said to his wife “Someone has been making our shoes all this time and we still don’t know who it is.” “Why don’t we stay up and watch” said his wife. After dinner they lit a candle and hid behind the counter. Eventually 2 elves dressed in rags came in. Instantly they set to work. Once they had finished they polished them until they shone in the moonlight. As soon as they finished they left in a hurry. In the morning the shoemaker said to his wife “How can we repay them?” “Well, why don’t you make some little shoes for them and I will knit 2 little caps and some clothes.” So from that day on the shoemaker helped his wife to make all sorts of clothes for the elves. On Christmas Eve everything stood in a neat pile. In came the elves. They looked at each other very surprised when they realized the presents were for them. They took off their old clothes and put on their new ones. As they ran out the door they sang “Oh what handsome boys we are, we will work on shoes no more.”

The Elves and the Shoemaker- Leo

A long time ago there was a very nice shoemaker and his wife. They made very good leather shoes but they were very poor. They lived in a shop with no money or food. They only had enough leather to make one pair of shoes. He cut the leather out and put it on his workbench then went to bed. In the morning he came down to his workbench and saw a really nice pair of shoes. They were polished too. There was a rich lady who came in and brought the pair of shoes for five silver coins. That was enough to buy some food and some leather. He cut the leather out and the same thing happened again every night. He was wondering who was doing it. He and his wife stayed up all night waiting to see who was helping. Then he saw two elves come skipping through the door and go to the work bench. They went straight to work. When they were finished the shoes were shining in the moonlight. Then they rushed away out the door. The shoemaker said “the elves were doing such a great job for us. I think we should make new clothes for them.” The shoemaker’s wife knitted some caps for them while the shoemaker was making some shoes. A few days later they were finished. They wrapped them up for the elves. Later on that night they put them on the workbench. Then the elves walked in and went to the workbench. All they saw was a pile of presents wrapped up. They noticed that they were for them so they unwrapped the presents and they saw nice clothes. They stripped off their rags and put the new clothes on and said to each other that they would never be shoemakers again!

The Elves and the Shoemaker - Darcy

Once upon a time there was a poor shoemaker. The shoemaker and his wife didn’t have enough money to buy any food. One night the shoemaker carefully chopped up some leather and left the leather on his work bench. That night when the shoemaker was asleep little elves snuck into the shop and made really good shoes out of the leather. When the shoemaker woke up he saw the beautiful shoes and wondered who had made them. Then a rich lady came into the shop and saw the beautiful shoes and walked over to them. She said “I will give you six silver coins for those shoes.” So then the shoemaker and his wife had enough to also buy leather to make two pairs of shoes. That night the shoemaker chopped up enough leather to make 2 pairs of shoes. The shoemaker went to bed and when he was in a deep sleep the little elves snuck in again and got to work. In the morning when the shoemaker went downstairs he saw the shoes and he was amazed. Later on a rich merchant walked into the shop and said “I’ll give you lots of money for those shoes.” After the merchant had paid him the shoemaker and his wife were rich. That night they stayed up and they saw the little elves sneak in and get to work. The shoemaker and his wife felt sorry that the elves had to do so much work on the shoes. After the elves had made the shoes and had left the shoemaker’s wife noticed that the elves had raggedy clothes and no shoes so the shoemaker and his wife started making the elves some clothes. The next night when the elves came to make shoes they didn’t see any leather. All they saw were some presents so they ran over to open them and put on the clothes. Then they skipped away and never came back again and the shoemaker and his wife lived happily ever after.

The Elves and the Shoemaker - Lochie

Once upon a time there was a shoemaker and his wife. They were very poor and had no money. They had only enough leather to make one pair of shoes. He cut out the shoes and left them on the work bench. That night two elves came into the work shop. They set to work on the shoes and started to hammer and stitch.
In the morning the shoemaker found two perfectly made shoes! That afternoon a rich person came into the shop and bought the shoes. Day after day this kept happening. Soon the shoemaker and his wife were rich too. The shoemaker said “Who is making these perfect shoes? Let’s stay up and see.” One night after dinner they stayed up and watched as the elves came out and set to work hammering and stitching.
In the morning they said “Let’s make proper clothes for them.” The shoemaker made shoes for them. They put the presents on the desk and waited.
The elves came and instead of cut out shoes a pile of presents was on the work bench. When the elves realized the presents were for them they laughed and opened them. When they found the clothes they said “Oh what handsome boys we are. We will work on shoes no more,” and ran off.

The Elves and the Shoemaker - Ruby

Once there was a poor shoemaker who couldn’t put food on the table! One day he picked up the last of his leather and sighed. There was only enough for one pair of shoes. Carefully he cut out the leather and laid it on the table. Then he climbed into bed. In the morning the shoemaker found a pair of shoes all neatly stitched. Soon a rich lady came in and brought the shoes. Then the shoemaker had enough money for leather for two pairs of shoes. The same thing kept on happening again and again. Soon the shoemaker was rich but wondered continuously who made the shoes. Finally the shoemaker came to a decision. That night the shoemaker hid behind the counter and waited. Sure enough the door opened and in skipped two Elves. They zoomed up to the workbench and set to work. Soon on the bench stood some highly polished shoes! When the shoemaker went to bed he started knitting two little caps. By dawn he had two beautiful costumes ready to wrap up. When the clothes were wrapped the shoemaker placed the parcels on the bench and waited. When the elves came instead of finding leather a pile of parcels lay on the bench. They tore open the parcels and stood and stared at the contents. Slowly smiles spread across their faces. Then, tossing aside their rags with glee they whisked on those fine clothes. The elves danced off singing “Oh what fine boys we are.” As the shoemaker climbed the stairs he smiled to himself. Though he never saw the Elves again the shoemaker was very contented.
