The Elves and the Shoemaker - Isabella
Along time ago there was a shoemaker and his wife. They were so poor that they didn’t have anything to eat. The shoemaker only had enough leather for one pair of shoes. So he cut the leather and placed it on the table and went straight up to bed. In the morning there was a beautiful pair of shoes on the table. Then a rich woman came in and bought the shoes. Next the shoemaker put two pairs of leather on the table. He said to his wife we must find out who has made all these shoes for us. His wife had an idea. She said “we’ll hide behind the counter and wait.” So they did and they saw two little elves. In the morning the shoe maker said to his wife we should give the elves some presents. So they started knitting some clothes and wrapped them up. At night the elves came in and saw the presents. They took their clothes off and sang “We’re never going to make shoes again.”
