Once upon a time there was a very poor shoemaker. He lived in a old shop and he couldn’t buy any food because they did not have any money.
He found some leather and put it on his table. It was the last of his leather. He cut it out ready for the morning. In the morning he woke up and saw one lovely pair of shoes on his table. During the day a rich lady came in to the shop and gave him a few coins for the shoes. He now had enough money for two pairs of shoes and some food. He brought two pieces of leather and cut out some shoes and put them on his table for the night. He woke up in the morning and saw some shiny leather shoes. Another rich person came into the shop and thought what lovely shoe they were. He bought them.
The shoemaker and his wife stayed up late and watched to see who was helping them. At midnight the door opened and in came two little elves. They made two more pairs of shoes then the elves went away.
The next day the shoemaker and his wife decided to make some clothes for the elves. They made clothes for the elves and wrapped them up in wrapping paper and put them on his desk. It was Christmas and they made clothes for the elves to say thank you. The elves came and opened the presents, took their old clothes off and put their new ones on. They ran outside saying, “We will not make shoes again.”
